20154HOctoberActivitiesSwain County 4-H has a very busy October planned and we would love for you to join us!

On October 7, stop by the Extension Office between 8:30a to 4:30p for our Halloween Craft Day. We will be making crafts to take home as well as to help decorate our booth at this year’s Praise Fest. We will be watching “Spookley the Square Pumpkin” and will have pizza and snacks.4HOpenHouse2015

October 8, come join us at our Swain County 4-H Open House event! Meet Jennifer Hill, our new 4-H Agent. Learn more about 4-H, youth programs, volunteer opportunities and more. Enter for a chance to win a door prize. Kids craft activities available and light refreshments will be served.

October 16, we will be working with Family and Consumer Science Agent, Dee Decker, to have a clogging demonstration at East Elementary during their Mt. Heritage Day.

October 17, 4-H and the Tangled Tots will be clogging with the Tangled Feet Stompers at the Chili Cook-off in Downtown Bryson City.

October 22, is our monthly West Swain 4-H Club Meeting held at the Extension Office at 6 p.m. This month they plan to get crafty for Halloween and have an activity to celebrate Fall.

ArtContestHeadingThe 2015 Swain County 4-H Holiday Art Contest entries are due on October 23rd. Winning Artwork will be featured on the 2015 Holiday Card mailed out by the Swain County Cooperative Extension. We will have one winner per age category (Cloverbud: 5 – 8, Junior: 9 – 13, Teenager: 14 – 18). Artist must be enrolled in 4-H. For entry form, a complete set of rules, or 4-H enrollment information please visit: swain.ces.ncsu.edu/swain-county-4-h-holiday-card-art-contest, or stop by the Extension Office. 

Also on October 23, 4-H and the Tangled Tots will be clogging with the Tangled Feet Stompers at the Fall Festival at West Elementary. Our show starts at 7:30 p.m.

On October 31, 4-H will have a booth set up at Praise Fest on Alarka, hosted by Icthus Ministries. Come on over for free fun, music and fellowship.

We are also very excited to announce we are planning to start up a new 4-H club called Backyard & Beyond. This club will focus on the learning experiences we have right in our backyards.

As always, clogging lessons are every Tuesday and are FREE for all ages!
