Are you interested in both gardening and volunteer service? Would you like to become more knowledgeable about a wide array of gardening subjects? Want to increase your confidence and horticultural skills?

Then the Extension Master Gardener Program might be for you! Becoming an Extension Master Gardener will enable you to assist the public with questions and problems involved with gardening. Volunteer service helps your community and you derive the pleasure and reward of working with others who share your interests.

More about the Master Gardener Program:

  • Receive 40 hours of training in subjects including: bulbs, vegetables, fruits, herbs, berries, pruning, grafting, native plants, organic gardening, disease and much more!
  • After successfully completing your training, passing a take-home exam, and returning a like number of hours in volunteer service you will be certified as a Master Gardener volunteer in Swain or Jackson County.
