2021 Swain County Bike Rodeo

Swain West Elementary School will host the Annual Swain County Bike Rodeo this Saturday, May 8, 2021, from 9–11:30 a.m. This is a free event for all Swain County Elementary School-age youth. Children will participate in a variety of stations – helmet inspections (helmets will be provided first come first serve) bike skills courses for all ages, group rides, and a nutrition station. A bike raffle will occur at approximately 11:30 a.m. where a variety of bikes will be raffled off (for free) into size-appropriate categories; participants must be present to win. A limited number of loaner bikes will be provided. If you have your own bike and helmet, please bring them!

COVID-19 guidance will be followed during the event including face coverings worn by volunteers and participants, physical distancing, and hand sanitizing stations will be available throughout the event. Any shared pieces of equipment will be disinfected between users.

Community partners sponsoring the event—Swain West Elementary School, Swain County Schools Nutrition, N.C. Cooperative Extension of Swain County, Tsali Bike Shop, Safe Routes to School, Woodmen Life, Motion Makers Bike Shop, NCSHP, and the Great Smokies Health Foundation.

In case of rain or bad weather, the bike rodeo will be postponed.
