Christmas Cookie Challenge Banner

Grab an apron and your favorite Christmas cookie cookbook. It’s time to get baking for the 2022 That’s How the Cookie Crumbles Christmas Cookie Challenge!

First place price will be awarded in youth and adult categories. Winner from each category will receive a basket of baking supplies (winner must be available to pick up prize from the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Swain County Center). 

What’s your favorite kind of cookie, chocolate chip, oatmeal, peanut butter, or sugar cookie? You decide and we’ll to the taste testing!

Cookie Entry Information

All Cookie Challenge entries must be received at N.C. Cooperative Extension, Swain County Center on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Cookie Challenge entries will be judged on December 8, and will be disposed of once they have been judged.

Cookie Challenge Rules

  • Include recipe with your cookie challenge entry.
  • Cookie Challenge entries must be submitted in disposable pans or plates and covered and sealed with disposable lids or clear plastic wrap. Baked goods will be disposed of once they have been judged.
  • Make sure you submit the exact quantity of six (6).
  • Pictures of entries will be taken and posted on social media.

Judging Criteria:

  • 15 points: Appearance – Shape, Size, Rounded, Even
  • 20 points: Crust – Color, Crispness, Thickness, Flakey 
  • 30 points: Crumb – Texture, Lightness, Moist, Color
  • 35 points: Flavor – Taste Texture, Moist
  • TOTAL: 100 points

Age Categories:

  • Youth – 18 and younger
  • Adult – 19 and older
