Why sign-up for the Holiday Hustle Wellness Challenge? It gives a purpose to being more active and helps keep you on track especially during the busy holiday season. Let’s embrace the holiday hustle with more opportunities to be active, reduce stress and hustle our way to wellness. The Holiday Hustle Wellness Challenge will begin November 5th and end on January 5th. Registration is required before November 5.
It’s simple to join. Pick your challenge, make a commitment and be accountable for tracking your progress. Take photos or videos (optional). Do your best to meet your goals and stay on track. This is not a competitive challenge, but instead a way to encourage each other to be more active.
A friend once told me that perfection doesn’t exist, so aim to be perfectly imperfect by doing your best! It’s important to remember, if you miss a day or stray from the challenge, you can start right back up again where you left off. We will support each other along the way.
You will be entered to win prizes and fitness swag at the conclusion of the challenge. Prizes include a yoga mat, yoga blocks, yoga band, digital scale, weighted gloves and more. Keep us updated! Increase flexibility and improve balance. Activities that lengthen and stretch muscle can help prevent injuries, back pain, and balance problems. Stretching can also be a great way to get you moving in the morning or a way to relax after a long day. Activities such as yoga, Tai Chi, Pilates combine stretching and relaxation and also improve balance. Remember, to warm up your muscles by walking for at least 5 minutes. Warming up increases blood flow, which increases the temperature in the muscle, and makes the muscles easier to stretch and helps to avoid injury.
Maintain, Don’t Gain or Lose 5+/- 5l.bs If you’re already at a healthy weight, it’s important to maintain it for your health. A healthy weight can help lower the risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes and high blood pressure. Losing just a few pounds makes a big difference in your overall health and can make you feel better. Setting a goal to lose 1 lb. per week is usually considered to be healthy, if you want to take off a few pounds.
Daily Step Challenge (minimum 8,000 steps at least 5 days each week) Why is it important to count steps? According to the National Institutes of Health, people who take 12,000 steps a day live longer than someone who takes only 4,000 steps a day. Walking is a simple way to ease into better health. Two benefits of walking are that it’s easy to do and has a low risk of injury.
Exercise Challenge – at least 5 days each week. The recommended amount of physical activity for adults is 150 minutes per week. We know 150 minutes each week sounds like a lot of time. You can break into 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week. The good news is that you can spread your activity out during the week, so you don’t have to do it all at once.
Combo Challenge – If you can’t settle for one challenge, go for it! Try two or more challenges that align with your goals and are realistic for your time and energy. Regular exercise is good for you, and there are numerous benefits to mixing up your workout routine. Mixing it up with the Combo Challenge will help you beat workout boredom.
Social Media Fitness Video – This challenge is meant to be fun! With all the quick and brief fitness challenges appearing in news feeds on various social media platforms, why not join in the fun. Pick a fitness challenge that is safe and within your fitness abilities. You don’t have to post your video to a social media site. To be entered in the prize drawings, simply share it with us.
