Let’s see if we can strike it rich! Spend the morning looking for precious gems and other interesting stones, at the Mason Mountain Mine. Learn more about the family-owned mine on their Facebook page.

  • Cost: $7 (includes on large bucket of local material) OR $20 (Family Bucket of 4-6 pounds of material)

What to Bring Suggestions: Wear old clothes, old towel, change of clothes, picnic lunch, water bottle, sunscreen, and bug repellent.

CAKE BOSS  – CAKE DECORATING

Show off your cake decorating skills by learning the basics of how to pipe and decorate cakes using different piping tools.

PAINT PERFECTION ART DAY &  TIE-DYE

Tie-dye a beach towel and show off your art skills with Ms. Arty Pants, Anessa Jaynes. She will be showing us some fun ways to paint on canvas as well as making your own personalized beach towel!

Tour a local farm and learn about what it takes to operative a farm business. Make a lunchtime fresh veggie wrap then enjoy a Dream Whip as a snack afterward. *Please note any food allergies on Summer Fun Registration Form.

WILDLIFE & FISHERIES MANAGEMENT DAY

Supervisory Fish and Wildlife Biologist, Dr. Caleb Hickman will be our guest speaker. Learn about many of the various aquatic vertebrae found in our local waters. See and touch animal skins and skulls from local animal wildlife.

POTTERY WITH SCC

Learn the art of pottery and create your own masterpieces to be fired in the kiln. Taught by Jeff Marley, SCC Director of Personal Enrichment/Heritage Arts You also have the option of entering you pottery art in this year’s Swain County Agricultural Fair!

PRESSURE PRINTING WITH SCC

Learn the technique of pressure printing art with instructor, Jeff Marley, SCC Director of Personal Enrichment/Heritage Arts. Participants will use natural and found items to create unique images with a printing press. Everyone will collect items to print, then ink their own plate and learn how to operate the press. Youth also have the option of entering their artwork in this year’s Swain County Agricultural Fair!
