Can you believe it’s almost fair time again?! It’s such a fun time to feel that special energy coming from the bands on stage, the mixed smell of “fair food”, craft vendors explaining their wares, the educational booths giving out swag that we simply must have one of each, families walking lazily through various activities, projects proudly on display, and the gentle conversation between a 4-H’er and their show animal.

4-H is more than ribbons, it's about growth.

On that note, the countdown is on to bring in this year’s fair exhibits! As a reminder, the last day to bring in your 4-H exhibit(s) is August 19th, at 4:00 p.m.! Are you interested in bringing a project but unsure of where to start? Here are a few questions to ask yourself:

  • What things do you like to do for fun?
  • What hobbies do you have?
  • Are there special needs/items required to complete the project? (Examples: Space, equipment, materials, etc.)
  • How much time do you have to spend on your project?
  • What adult/teen do you know who can help you with your project?
  • Can you complete it before August 19th, at 4:00 p.m.?

Did you know that many hobbies and general interests can be project exhibits? I challenge you to think outside the box, and let’s show Swain County how talented our Youth are! Here are some ideas to consider in showcasing your creativity:
