Nine members of the Swain County Bullets & Bows 4-H Club traveled to Ellerbe, North Carolina on Saturday, October 4, to compete in the 2025 NC 4-H Shooting Sports Tournament. To qualify for the state event, each youth had to earn high enough scores at the West District Shooting Sports Tournament held on August 9 in Polk County.

These dedicated youth represented Swain County across four categories:

Junior Level Competitors

  • Creed Monteith – Shotgun

  • Ezekiel Reagan – Open Sight Rifle

  • Kipling Ridgeway – Archery (Compound)

  • Carter Perkins – Shotgun

Senior Level Competitors

  • Lily Craig – Archery (Compound Hunter/Sporter)

  • Landon Cochran – Shotgun

  • Kregg Parton – Shotgun

  • Kiana Parton – Archery (Compound Hunter/Sporter)

These 4-Hers were supported and coached by certified 4-H Shooting Sports volunteers: Mike Tabor, Jeff Shuler, Buddy Parris, and Mindy Parton.

We are proud to announce the following outstanding achievements:

  • Landon Cochran: 1st Place Individual – Senior Shotgun

  • Ridge Parton: 1st Place Individual – Junior Shotgun and 1st Place Overall – Junior Shotgun

Congratulations to all our participants for their hard work, sportsmanship, and dedication. You represented Swain County with distinction—well done!
